Matthew C. Woodard serves as Secretary-Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer. Matt joined the Hood Companies in 2013 and works closely alongside John and Seth in managing the day-to-day operations of the various entities. In addition to developing and helping to execute the overall financial strategy for each of the Hood Companies, he is involved in evaluating all real estate acquisitions, mineral prospects, and other capital investments.
Matt is a 1999 graduate of Cedar Creek School, a 2003 graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a B.S. in Accounting, and a 2004 graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a Master of Professional Accountancy degree.
Prior to joining the Hood Companies, Matt worked in public practice with Heard, McElroy & Vestal, LLC in Shreveport, Louisiana; with Evers, Cox & Gober, PLLC in Ruston, Louisiana; and finally as a partner in the firm of Barr & Woodard, LLC in Ruston, Louisiana, which he founded along with Chris Barr in 2009.
Matt is a Certified Public Accountant and also holds the CGMA and PFS designations. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants (LCPA).
Matt is married to Garson Hood Woodard, John’s daughter, and they have three children. Matt and his family are members of Temple Baptist Church in Ruston, where he serves as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and as a R.A. teacher to 5th and 6th grade boys.
Matt has previously served on the boards of the Ruston Jaycees and the Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. Currently, Matt serves on the Board of the Ruston Dixie Baseball Association as Executive Secretary and also on the Advisory Board of the Louisiana Tech University School of Accountancy.
